Description
PURPOSE
«ALPREP Magnet» Magnetic sorbent is an aqueous suspension of magnetic particles coated with silica, with a concentration of 25 mg/ml. It must be thoroughly mixed immediately before use.
Applications:
- extraction of genomic DNA from blood, tissues, bacteria, plants;
- viral DNA/RNA extraction;
- purification of PCR fragments;
- plasmid DNA extraction.
ASSAY PRINCIPLE
The principle of NA extraction is based on the reversible binding of nucleic acids to the surface of the magnetic particles coated with silica. A magnetic sorbent forms a dense precipitate in the presence of a magnetic field, which allows the supernatant to be selected. The particles then should be washed several times to remove salts, proteins and other organic compounds that have not bound to the sorbent surface. DNA elution from the surface of magnetic sorbent occurs through a low-salt, slightly alkaline buffer solution.
