«ALCHEM SSC» Buffer solution is used for hybridization experiments such as Southern blotting and Northern blotting.
- Sodium citrate provides buffering capacity for maintaining constant pH of solution;
- Salt ions interact with negatively charged nucleic acids, neutralizing their charge, which facilitates the binding of the probe to the target DNA sequence;
- The buffer solution is provided as a 20x concentrate. It must be diluted with deionized water before use.
