«ALMUNO PRRS» Kit for the detection of specific antibodies against Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome virus in porcine serum or plasma by ELISA.
Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) is a highly contagious disease that causes significant economic damage. Reproductive problems such as premature births, late pregnancy abortions and increased number of stillbirths, births with defects and respiratory pathology syndromes lead to increased piglet mortality and reduced piglet growth. Damage to the immune system makes animals vulnerable to secondary infection.
The causative agent of RRS is an RNA-containing virus of the Arteriviridae family. The main route of virus spread is infected animals, including breeding animals or semen.
The disease may be asymptomatic or have general symptoms indistinguishable from those of swine influenza, pseudorabies (Aujeszky’s disease), classical swine fever, parvovirus, encephalomyocarditis, chlamydia and mycoplasmosis. Left undetected, infected animals will quickly spread PRRS throughout the herd through contaminated bodily fluids.
Effective control of PRRS depends on early detection and rapid removal or isolation of infected animals.
Diagnosis is made on the basis of epizootic and clinical data and laboratory test results.
Serological tests for detection of PRRS virus provide a quick and accurate diagnosis necessary to control PRRS, determine the herd negative status and protect the profits of producers.
Reagent kits of product form 1 are designed for 192 samples, including control samples. Reagent kits of product form 2 are designed for 480 samples, including control samples.
